Krups-Linux: Embedded Linux for JavaStation-NC

JavaStation-NC

Embedded Linux for Sun JavaStation-NC ("Krups") is based on the Debian (woody) sparc boot-floppy. Flash image contains SILO (slightly modied to allow us bootting with big initial ramdisk images) that allows bootting of Linux kernel (2.4.19) from flash either with framebuffer console or serial console. SILO defaults bootting embedded mini Linux system from flash, but there is also option of booting only kernel from flash and mountting nfs-root (using BOOTP/DHCP), or you can always specify your custom kernel options from silo command line...

Embedded mini Linux system, contains basic unix utilities (most of them provided by BusyBox) that can be found on Debian install floppies. Several programs have been added (some highlights):

On boot network interface is configured using DHCP/BOOTP by dhcpcd. When using the frame-buffer 6 virtual consoles are available and no password is needed. Only identd daemon is started on boot, no other services are started.
